Description of Work

What and Why

  • To identify existing epidemiology data sources and integrate into the CTC platform, through collaboration with the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) project of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME)

Goals

  • Conduct mapping and landscaping desktop research to identify existing epidemiological data sources for priority infectious diseases.

  • Engage data owners to become collaborators in GBD project of IHME.

  • Augment the CTC platform with qualitative disease information at site level.

Activities

  • Task 3.1: Identify and localise relevant epidemiological data.

  • Task 3.2: Engage data owners to become GBD collaborators.

  • Task 3.3: Add self-reported disease expertise to sites information on CTC platform.

Expected Outcomes

  • Data identifying pools of patients, will increase the representation of African populations in their clinical trials and potentially accelerate recruitment.

Freedoms

  • Existing relationship with relevant stakeholders.

  • The CTC platform already exists with some data.

Constraints

  • Restrictions to share data with IHME and nuvoteQ.

  • Limited integration of new epidemiological data sources due to incomplete epidemiological data available from low-resource regions.
